LONG BEACH (gorewon2000.net) The Diva is proud to announce the addition of a new daily feature to the BBBR, "Reports from the Field," authored by BBBR Resistance Fighters from Coast to Coast, with reply and commentary by The Webmistress.
The media has succeeded, to a great extent, in framing Coup2K outrage as a black issue, an extremist-leftist issue, a non-issue. I can tell you, on my honor, that this is, to put it charitably, "conservative spin," and to put it candidly, "a big, fat, ugly, bald-faced lie in desperate need of a no-holds-barred smack-down."
I have received hundreds of e-mails (my computer is considering filing sweatshop charges against me) from people all over the country, who profess to feel the same outrage I feel. Personally, I am convinced of their sincerity.
I wish now I had saved them all. They are a testament to living, vital American patriotism, and love for democratic values.
I didn't, though.
I will not make that mistake again.
Starting now, The BBBR will have a new daily feature, "Reports from the Field," a companion feature to "Reports from the Front."
Each day, I will post selected e-mails I receive from BBBR Resistance Fighters. Many of the Resistance Fighters who have written in, and continue to write in, are brilliant and witty people whose views and perspectives, opinions and off-the-cuff humor, deserve a wider audience. I intend to provide that audience.
I will make alterations to assure the privacy of the writer, and I will not post ANY e-mail that is accompanied by a request that it remain a personal communication to The Diva.
So, if you have something to say to the world, or just to your fellow BBBR Resistance Fighters, send it in. I will do my best to read every word any of you writes, and to respond -- if not by personal e-mail, then through my reply and commentary on "Reports from the Field."
I want to say to all of you, from where I stand, YOU ARE NOT ALONE. I can say this with absolute confidence and conviction, because I have heard the voices and read the words of people who share your outrage at Coup2K, and who are prepared to declare it. I have read the personal stories of people coping with the shift in our national values -- away from democratic ideals and robust participation -- and I have shared my personal feelings with them.
We are, like my new black family, a family whose bonds transcend biology. We are a family of shared experiences, shared values, shared heroes, and shared goals. I would be lying if I didn't include in this list shared enemies. The Diva is as nonviolent as they come, but I know a threat when I see one, and I will fight any threat to myself or those I love with every weapon in my arsenal, short of violence. The BBBR Resistance has many weapons, all with faces and names, hearts and minds, and the same commitment to decency and justice.
So, in closing, I ask you to share yourself with us. Contribute. Be funny. Be sober. Be irreverent. Be majestic. Be indignant. Be who you are.
